The exhibition represents the history of domestic postage stamps editions dedicated to Olympic Games.
The exhibition is based upon exclusive philatelic materials kept in the State Collection of Postage Stamps i.e. drafts, drawing originals, approved and unapproved projects of postage stamps (460 items). They narrate historical events connected with initiation of modern Olympic branch, various types of winter and summer sport, Russian Olympic athletes— winners of Winter and Summer Olympic Games.
The first home of Olympic series of stamps was issued in 1957 and was dedicated to victories of our sportsmen at Melbourne Olympic Games. Henceforth such post-Olympic issues have become a tradition.
Postage stamps dedicated to the Summer Olympic Games in Moscow (1980) and Winter Olympic Games in Sochi (2014) will take a special display.
