On January 4, 1908 in the Mariinsky Theatre of Saint Petersburg a Russian ballet star performed on a charity concert
On that event Anna Pavlova, one of the most talented dancers of the Russian ballet, performed the famous choreographic miniature «The Dying Swan» for the very first time. The director of the performance, Michail Fokin, had set up the act especially for Anna Pavlova with the music of the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns. The poetical image, created by Pavlova and Fokin, became a cherished masterpiece and the symbol of Russian ballet.
