January 25, 1911 was the day of an organisational meeting for creating the Russian olympic comittee in the building of St. Petersburg's speedskating amateurs society in the Yusupov garden
Two month later the first staff of the of the Russian Olympic comittee was elected. Vyacheslav Sreznevsky became the first president of the Comittee. The organisation was housed on Sadovaya street, 50. But due to political reasons it took a year and two months for the Commitee to come into operation. The Regulations of the Comittee was signed off by the Minister of Internal Affairs only on May 17, 1912.
