On March 1, 1712 Peter the Great married the future Catherine II at Saint Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg
Peter the Great invited his closest friends to celebrate the occasion wih them. Above the festive table there was a chandelier, made by Peter on a lathe as a wedding gift to his bride. The celebration ended with a ball and fireworks. Since that day Catherine became a true mistress of the tzar's palace.
