On May 1, 1949 the Soviet television aired the first outdoor broadcast

Operators shot the parade on the Palace Square. Outdoor broadcasting became possible mainly thanks to the progress in science and technology. These first field operations lay the foundation for the reporting genre in Soviet TV.
