Consecration of the first St. Isaaс's Cathedral

10 June, Wednesday

On June 10, 1707 Peter I decreed construction of a church in the name of his patron — Saint Isaaс the Confessor

The church was built inside one of the warehouse spaces of the Admiralty settlement. As the first historian of St. Petersburg Alexander Bogdanov wrote, this building originally served as «drawing barn» where blueprints for ships' structure were created.
