On March 18, 1844 a Russian composer Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov was born
Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, a Russian composer, teacher, conductor, public figure, music critic, and a member of the «Mighty Handful», was an outstanding personality in the world music culture. Rimsky-Korsakov founded of a school of composition, where nearly two hundred composers, conductors and musicologists studied. The composer created 15 operas, 3 symphonies, symphonic works, instrumental concerts, cantatas, chamber-instrumental, vocal and sacred music. The Saint Petersburg's Conservatory is named after him.
