The preparation of St. Petersburg for 23rd UNWTO General Assembly in 2019 will be discussed in Madrid.
The delegation of St. Petersburg government will visit Madrid in period from 18 to 20 January, 2018. They will meet Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili and former UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai to discuss preparation of St. Petersburg for the 23rd UNWTO General Assembly in 2019.
In addition, a government delegation will visit the International Tourist Exhibition FITUR-2018, which is being held in Madrid from 17 to 21 January 2018.The exhibition stand of St. Petersburg will present its city as a unique tourist destination and as the city, which hosts the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
St. Petersburg Committee for Tourism Development together with Petersburg leading tourism industry companies will apprise Guests and participants of the international exhibition with the tourist potential of our city.
Passenger Port of St. Petersburg “Marine Façade” and St. Petersburg international airport Pulkovo are participating partners of exhibition stand as well.
Business meetings with international representatives of MICE industry and operators of the tourist industry are also planned in the framework of St. Petersburg's participation in the tourist exhibition FITUR-2018.
The city of St. Petersburg is actively interacting with UNWTO. Mr Taleb Rifai visited this city twice in 2016 and in December of the same year the memorandum of understanding between the Government of St. Petersburg and UNWTO was signed.
We recall that the presentation of St. Petersburg as a candidate for the 23rd session of the UNWTO General Assembly in 2019 took place at the 22nd session of the UNWTO General Assembly, held in Chengdu (People's Republic of China) in September 2017.
