This was announced by Kai Hattendorf, Managing Director of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) within the framework of the VII Europe + Asia Event Forum (EFEA), which took place in St. Petersburg from 17 to 19 January 2018.
The event was presented by Nana Gvichiya, Vice-Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg; Kai Hattendorf, Managing Director of the Global Association of Exhibition Industry (UFI); Sergey Voronkov, General Director of LLC “ExpoForum-International” LLC and Daria Ostrovskaya, Chairman of Organizing Committee of Europe + Asia Event Forum and Event LIVE Forum.
In his speech, Mr. Hatterndorf noted: “The decision to choose the venue for the next International Congress of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) was very difficult, but we are very glad that St. Petersburg was chosen between many other applicants. It is 11% of all UFI members are specialists from Russia, who jointly organize 115 international events approved by the World Exhibition Association. We are glad to have such strong support from the Russian exhibition industry and we are always listening to the opinion of our Russian colleagues in solving the key tasks of the Global Congress and Exhibition Industry ".
The readiness of the Petersburg specialists to strengthen established ties with the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry in the forthcoming UFI Global Congress as well as the significance of the event for St. Petersburg was underlined in speech of Nana Gvichiya, Vice-Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg.
“The Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg and The Congress and Exhibition Bureau are actively supporting the business in preparation for the Congress. We hope to show UFI delegates our city from a different perspective and through communication with colleagues from other countries gain new experience in MICE-direction. It is a great honor for our city to host the UFI Global Congress. That is why we have made every effort to attract such a large-scale event to St. Petersburg."
Sergey Voronkov said that the UFI Global Congress in 2018 will be held in parallel to the International Festival "Megustro", which is considered as one of the most important city gastronomic event. This is consistent with the concept of combining exhibition and Congress events for a more comfortable and interesting stay of tourists from Russia and foreign countries. The private conversation between Mr. Kai Hattendorf and Nana Gvichija took place during which were discussed organizational issues of the 85th UFI Global Congress and further cooperation within the industry.
