Russian Railways announced plans to purchase new high-speed trains for using them on the St. Petersburg-Moscow route.
Russian carrier plans to receive about a dozen of Sapsan trains manufactured by Siemens. Thus, the number of runs in total will be increased by half. In addition, the length of the trains will be increased by one wagon.
Currently, there are 16 high-speed trains of this type in Russia. Sapsans ply only between St. Petersburg and Moscow. But from 1st March the St. Petersburg-Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod route will be opened.
