On May 26 an annual Gala concert Classics at the Palace Square will be held in St. Petersburg. Open-air concert is timed to celebration of the 315th anniversary of the St. Petersburg. Famous French tenor Roberto Alagna and Aleksandra Kurzak will be its headliners.
Roberto Alagna is a well-known French tenor of Italian descent, who performing at the most famous World stages, including Covent Garden, Vienna Opera and the Metropolitan.
The “Queen of improvisation” and Alagna’s wife Aleksandra Kurzhak will be the second headliner of the Classics at the Palace Square concert. She is a vocalist from Poland, the owner of a light soprano, six years worked as a soloist of the Hamburg State Opera. The concert at the St. Petersburg main square will be a debut in Russia.
This year, BBC award "Singer of the World 2011" owner Valentina Nafornita will perform again.
In addition to other artists invited to the event, St. Petersburg citizens will be congratulated by Symphony Orchestra of Mikhailovsky Theater by and its ballet troupe. They will be joined by the Ballet Theater of Leonid Yakobson, Alla Dukhova's ballet "Todes", and dance club "Duet" that is Acting world champion in Latin American dances.
"The programme of the concert will surprise admirers of classical art with the versatility of the repertoire and charismatic performance of masterpieces by Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti, Bizet, Verdi, Gounod, Strauss and other great composers," the organizers of the event inform.
