315th St. Petersburg anniversary celebrated in Canada
29 May 2018
The Russian-speaking community of Canada celebrated the 315th anniversary of the founding of St. Petersburg by creating a video-link with Russia’s and Azerbaijan’s cities.
In the framework of the celebration, together were gathered Toronto and Montreal, Perm, Baku and St. Petersburg. For technical reasons, Moscow, Washington, Rome, Tbilisi and Kiev could not establish connection.
At the festive event, a flash mob took place, where participants from different parts of the world sang the anthem of St. Petersburg. More than 70 people took part in the celebration. Among them were veterans of the Great Patriotic War and inhabitants of the blockaded city of Leningrad, poets, musicians, architects and artists.
In addition, at the event was held a contest for knowledge of the history of St. Petersburg and a virtual tour around the city.
