The streets of St. Petersburg have been started to decorate with spring flowers

The first flowers of the year have been appeared on the streets of St. Petersburg.
On Tuesday, April 21, the employees of the department of landscape-gardening of the Committee for Improvement of St. Petersburg began to plant seedlings of white and red violets on Birzhevoy Square on the Spit of Vasilyevsky Island. In total, almost 50 thousand spring flowers are planned to be planted at this place. In June, the violets will be replaced by new plantings of begonias of different varieties, almost 40 thousand flowers.
Similar work on planting flowers and bushes is taking place in other districts of St. Petersburg. Until May 9, gardeners will plant 602 421 violet flowers in the city.
At the moment, landscape-gardening enterprises are conducting large-scale work as part of the month of improvement. From April 1 to April 17, gardeners washed more than 9,000 crowns of trees, repaired lawns on an area of about 90,000 square meters, planted almost 1,000 trees and more than 15,000 bushes.
