From July 4 to July 22, 2020 the «Great Arctic Regatta» funded by the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism) is planned to take place; its aim is to popularize and develop the use of the northern water areas and coast a territories of the Russian Arctic zone by civilians.
The Federal Agency for Tourism is working on the sustainable development of tourism in the Russian Federation, including the northern and Arctic territories. One of the aspects of this work is promoting tourism in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation on the national and global markets.
The 2020 expedition route includes visiting Saint Petersburg, the Leningrad, Arkhangelsk and Murmansk regions, the Republic of Karelia and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The results of the expedition will be reviewed at the First World Arctic Tourism Media Congress within the Accessible Arctic forum in Saint Petersburg in September 2020.
The aim of the2020 expedition is to check the infrastructure of the water recreation on the proposed inter-regional route (examination of possible camps, mooring places and gas stations), monitor the nature and examine locations.
