The XXVIII season of the Festival "Palaces of St. Petersburg" will be opened by the musical anthology "Romeo and Juliet"

On August 27 at 19.30 on the channel of the International Music Festival "Palaces of St. Petersburg" on YouTube, the premiere of a unique program - a musical anthology of William Shakespeare's masterpiece "Romeo and Juliet" will be broadcast from the luxurious hall of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts named after Baron A.L. von Stieglitz.
The concert opens the XXVIII season of the "Palaces of St. Petersburg" Festival.
On August 27, viewers of the online broadcast of the concert will have a rare opportunity to see in the interiors of a real Italian palazzo, located in the very heart of St. Petersburg, an exclusive musical program - the history of the most famous love drama, interpreted by composers of different epoches.
The best voices of the Mariinsky Theater and the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers will perform the immortal creations of the Shakespearean in music - Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, fragments of the opera by Charles Gouno - an outstanding example of French lyric opera, beautiful and piercing arias and duets from the opera by Vincenzo Bellini, as well as an aria Romeo from the once highly acclaimed by the public and critics, but rarely performed today opera of Riccardo Zandonai.
Ballet stars, one of the most beautiful ballet couples on the Russian stage, Marat Shamiunov and Irina Perren, will describe the history of Veronese lovers in a dance drawing. The audience will enjoy the delicate watercolors of the choreography to the music of Tchaikovsky, passionate bright shades of Prokofiev's music. A special gift for the audience will be a composition based on the music of the 20th century classic composer from Nino Rota the film masterpiece by Franco Zeffirelli, which is loved by the general public.

The world of Shakespeare in music will be revealed to the audience by the artistic director of the "Palaces of St. Petersburg" Festival, Honored Artist of Russia Maria Safaryants.
