This year Saint Petersburg was nominated 4 times – «Best destination for business tourism», «Best tourist destination. City», «Best urban cultural destination in the world», «Best destination for cruises». Winners will be announced during the final online-ceremony on the 27th of November.

World Travel Awards was established in 1993 and is considered the most prestigious award in the travel industry. The prize is awarded annually to the winners in different nominations after tourists and industry experts voting.
Saint Petersburg has already received the most prestigious World Travel Awards five years in a row. The first award the Northern Capital of Russia has received in 2015 in the category «Leading European Destination», in 2016 the city became a laureate in the category «Leading Cultural and Tourism Destination in the World». In 2017 and 2018, St. Petersburg became the leader in the «Best Urban Destination in Europe» nomination, and in 2019 took the first in the ranking in the «Leading Urban Tourism Destination in Europe» nomination, leaving behind Paris, Amsterdam and Barcelona.
