Visitors of the festival will be able to know more about culture and history of this distant country.
From 26 November to 5 December 2020, the festival “Papua New Guinea Days in St. Petersburg” will be held for the first time in the historical park "Russia - My History".
As part of the cultural program, guests of the festival will be able to visit the unique exhibition "Maclay Coast" which includes thirty artifacts of high historical and cultural value of New Guinea (bow, arrows, drum, etc.), photographs and copies of drawings introducing the history of ties which began with N. Miklouho-Maclay’s expeditions in 1871, and also Miklouho-Maclay’s expeditionary suit of the XIX century (replica), an exact copy (model) of the Maclay Coast modeled on archival materials and demonstrating the first historic meeting of the Russian scientist with the indigenous peoples of New Guinea.
On the opening day of the festival, 26 November, there will be a business program at which the prospects and opportunities for Russian companies in Papua New Guinea and the prospects for economic cooperation will be presented.
