Opening of “Zenit” metro station postponed to 2021

17 December 2020

The St. Petersburg metro station, closed for repairs for more than 8 months and formerly known as Novokrestovskaya, will not be opened in December, contrary to what was previously announced.

The press service of the Committee for the Development of Transport Infrastructure of St. Petersburg states that this is due to the difficult financial situation of “Metrostroy” company.

Let us remind you that, in April 2020, the Novokrestovskaya station was closed due to low passenger turnover and restrictive measures, and then its repairs began. Later it was renamed from Novokrestovskaya to Zenit, in honour of the club of the same name. The station is expected to acquire a new design.
