“Northern Lights” unfolded over the Palace Bridge

24 December 2020

The crossing was adorned with festive decorations before the New Year.

The new lighting design for the Palace Bridge was switched on on December 23. Now locals and tourists can enjoy the view of a unique kinetic light composition with a “northern lights” effect, as reported by the city administration.

As mentioned in the message, when developing the composition, all the features of the Palace Bridge – an object of cultural heritage and a complex technical structure with numerous utilities – were taken into account.

The lighting design occupies a huge area of 6,500 square meters. Lighting structures are installed at a height of 12 meters. 300 LED elements with a total length of more than half a kilometer, as well as 40 transverse cables were used. A special system has been developed to control three thousand pixels of the light field.
