XX New Year Jazz Music Festival Starts This Week

The festival is traditionally held in early January.

The XX New Year Festival dedicated to the birthday of the Jazz Philharmonic Hall will be held from 13 to 15 January. This was reported by Saint Petersburg Committee for Culture. The festival, as usual, coincides with the Old New Year.

As noted, the best projects of the Philharmonic Hall will be presented. Among the participants - the legendary ensemble of David Goloshchekin and Yulia Kasyan (vocals), the only state professional big band in Saint Petersburg, Jazz Philharmonic orchestra with the project "Salute, Frank Sinatra!", the talented vocalist Victoria Urusova and her ensemble, one of the best Russian ensembles in the field of swing and bop "Jazz Classic Trio" by Andrey Zimovets (piano), the quartet of Konstantin Khazanovich (piano, clarinet), with the participation of the clarinetist from Switzerland Simon  Wyrsch. The famous Oleg Kuvaitsev’s Leningrad Dixieland will perform the New Year's program "White Christmas".

In addition, representatives of the younger generation will congratulate the Philharmonic Hall on its birthday: Saint Petersburg saxophonist Prokhor Burlak and his quintet, as well as the famous Moscow jazz musician Makar Novikov (contrabass piccolo) with the author's project "Overbass".

The musical director of the festival is People's Artist of Russia David Goloshchekin.

The host of the program is the Honored Art Worker of Russia Vladimir Feiertag.

The concert programs start at 19.00.
