Events dedicated to 78th anniversary of breakthrough of siege of Leningrad and 77th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad

The list of the upcoming events in the city is published on the website of Saint Petersburg's Administration.

The list of the upcoming events in Saint Petersburg dedicated to the 78th anniversary of the breakthrough of the siege of Leningrad and the 77th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazisiege during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 includes 115 events suggested by 16 committees, administrations of all districts and major public organizations of veterans and siege survivals.

A solemn mourning meeting and a ceremony of laying flowers to the memorial plaque «To the heroism and courage of Leningrad citizens» will be one of the main city wide events. It will take place on January 27 at 9.30 at Nevsky Prospect, 14.

Solemn mourning ceremonies of laying wreaths and flowers will take place at the Piskarevskoye Memorial Cemetery, at the Serafimovskoye Cemetery, on Pobedy Square, at the Triumphal Arch of Victory and at other memorable places and burial sites of soldiers, defenders and residents of besieged Leningrad.

On January 27 torches will be lit on the Rostral Columns. They will be burning from 10.00 to 12.00 and from 19.00 to 22.00. At 12.00 the cannon of the Naryshkin bastion of the Peter and Paul Fortress will fire a commemorative shot. A festive concert will start in the «Oktyabrsky» Big Concert Hall at 15:00.
