Record-breaking air temperature drop reported in St. Petersburg

The air temperature on the night of February 15 fell to a record low. 

The air temperature in St. Petersburg dropped to 21.9 degrees below zero on the night of February 15. As TASS reports, with reference to the chief meteorologist of the city, Alexander Kolesov.

“21.9 degrees is, one might say, another temperature record this winter,” Kolesov says. He adds that the previous minimum of this winter was 21.6 degrees below zero, recorded last week.

The record is expected to be broken as early as 18 February. According to the forecast, the temperature will drop to 25 degrees below zero.
