Nearly forty varieties of lilacs will be shown in the Botanical Garden

It will be possible to see the blossoming bushes within the framework of the first stage of the tulips and lilacs exhibition “Dreams about Spring” and the “Thaw of Feelings” festival.

As reported on the VKontakte social network page of the Botanical Garden of Peter the Great, visitors will be presented with varieties of the main breeding directions of France (Buffon and Katherine Havemeyer by Lemoine), the USA (Dresden China, whose originator was Klager), Germany (Andenken an Ludwig Späth / “Memory of Ludwig Späth”), The Netherlands (everyone's favourite Sensation variety, whose originator was Maarse).

“Russia will be represented by the varieties of the famous collector Leonid Alekseevich Kolesnikov. As usual, the “Dream” variety will be exhibited, and for the first time, guests of the Garden will be able to admire the “Beauty of Moscow*”, a rare in beauty snow-white variety with pink buds. It is referred to as “the queen of all varieties”, “the pearl of the world lilac selection foundation”, for it Kolesnikov was awarded the “Golden Lilac Branch” in 1973 in Boston (USA) - the highest award of the International Lilac Society,”the message says.

A total of 38 lilacs will be presented. According to the plans of the Garden, the exposition will open on February 21st. It will be possible to visit it until March 8th. The exact date of the exhibition opening will be announced in the coming days.
