In honor of the 60th anniversary of the first spaceflight, online portal “Russian Space. It`s just the beginning” is launched

11 March 2021

The project is being carried out by the joint effort of the State Corporation Roscosmos, the Federal Agency for Tourism and other interested organizations.

The creation of the online information portal “Russian space. It`s just the beginning” is entrusted to LLC “Gagarinsky Start”. The project is a part of the general plan of preparation to the 2020 and 2021 celebration of the 60th anniversary of Yury Gagarin's space flight. Roscosmos and the Federal Agency for Tourism are also involved in its implementation.

The objective of the project is to form a publicly available digital archive of information on the travels of Soviet and Russian astronauts abroad and in the USSR.

After the first space flight of Yu. A. Gagarin in 1961, Soviet and Russian astronauts visited many organizations in the USSR and around the world. Photo and video materials kept at factories, in public and private archives, save the memories of the meetings and public events the astronauts took part in. Unfortunately these materials are only available to a limited circle of people at the moment.

By creating digital copies of photographs, including autographs of astronauts, it is possible to create a modern digital footprint and make it available beyond borders and time by placing it on the Internet.

The selection and review of materials sent to the project is coordinated by the organizing committee of the project.

Everybody is welcome to support the project and send materials via the link: http://gagarinstart.ru/russianspace/
