26 March 2021
The projection of Caravaggio's painting is going to appear on the facade for three consecutive nights. The project is timed to coincide with the 450th anniversary of the birth of Caravaggio (1571-1610).
St. Petersburg Committee for Culture reports, that MusicAeterna musicians, together with the Hermitage XXI Century Foundation, are showing on the facade of the House of Radio the gem of the State Hermitage collection - Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio's painting "A Young Man with a Lute" (1595/1596).
It is noted that the action is held within the framework of the "Museum 15/24" project. You are going to see the projection on the evenings of March 26, 27 and 28.
"In the original painting by Caravaggio "The Young Man with the Lute" the musician performs a madrigal by Jacques Arkadel (Jacob Arcadelt) "Voi sapete ch’io v’amo" ("You know that I love you"). For the demonstration of "live" picture, the musicAeterna team has prepared a new musical accompaniment", the Committee`s statement reads.
The music will not be static. Together with the painting, it will undergo a transformation "from renaissance to modern sound".
