Business meetings and VR travel: St. Petersburg will present its tourism opportunities in Dubai and Madrid

The city will take part in two major international travel exhibitions: from May 16 to 19 Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, from May 19 to 23 FITUR-2021 in Madrid. The organizer of the stands from the Government is St. Petersburg Convention Bureau subordinate to the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg, which united on one site representatives of the tourism and related industries – Northern Capital Gateway Consortium, “Intourist” and other travel agencies, hotel chains. Visitors will be able to know about business and tourism opportunities in St. Petersburg, find new routes for the Northern capital and establish direct connections.

The stands are decorated with the city's identity brand and the official symbols of UEFA EURO 2020, seven matches of which will be held in St. Petersburg in June. The center of the exposition will be a video wall showing a presentation, videos about the Northern capital, information about the main directions of tourism: business, cultural, educational, medical, event, creative spaces and others.

During the exhibition in Spain, Sergey Korneev, Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg, will talk about key projects and routes, measures to ensure the city's safety and readiness for hosting Championship matches, and further outlooks.

In his words, St. Petersburg is a business and tourist center. Various foreign tour operators and interested partners of the cultural capital will be able at exhibitions to expand their presentation and receive up-to-date information about all the current opportunities of the city.

The participants will be presented with the project of the Northern Capital “New Tourist and Cultural Geography”, which essence is the integration of new places and locations into the classic tourist map of the city. Thanks to this, guests get acquainted with the classic and modern Northern capital, which is ready to offer in the near future diversified routes and tourist products for all categories of travelers.

Presentation of the project “Silver Necklace of Russia”, consisted of a set of routes that combine historical cities and territories, regional centers, large population points of the Northwestern Federal District, which has the unique monuments of history, culture and nature included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, is expected. An active program is planned within the framework of the exhibitions and will include official and business meetings, as well as the signing of agreements. On May 20, 2021, within the framework of the FITUR exhibition, a meeting of the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg leadership with the UNWTO World Tourism Organization leadership headed General Secretary Zurab Pololikashvili is planned.

As part of the cooperation between Moscow and St. Petersburg a joint campaign under a single brand “Two cities - a million impressions” to promote tourism products in foreign markets is being formed with a joint press conference on this topic in zero day in Madrid. The main goal of the two capitals is to attract foreign guests through the events that take place in the life of the cities, to first visits and to return visits.

According to Sergey Korneev words, many foreign tourists usually visit both cities in Russia and now when the world competition has intensified Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg want to offer joint Moscow-St. Petersburg tourism products for all 4 seasons, as soon as the borders open. The stand of the Northern Capital will also present the opportunities and programs of the largest organizer of exhibition events “ExpoForum-International”, the tour operator “Tari Tour” and other partners of St. Petersburg.

Throughout all days of the exhibitions, at the St. Petersburg stand presentations of tourist opportunities, event and cultural projects of St. Petersburg; destination knowledge quizzes for exhibition guests with souvenir prizes will be held; VR activities and contests will be organized.
