Nineteen students’ design projects are competing for the right to create the merchandize of Saint-Petersburg

The finalists of the St. Petersburg Young Design contest were announced at the center of design and architecture Design District DAA. More than 300 applications were filed to participate in the nomination “Merchandize of Saint-Petersburg”, established by the Saint-Petersburg Tourist Information Bureau together with “Project 111” company, 19 of which were selected to contend for awards.

An idea of the nomination “Merchandize of Saint-Petersburg” is to create a conceptual image of the city and apply it to the articles to be marketed in the tourism industry. Participants are to create intuitive and at the same time ingenious print, combine graphics and text in order to produce merchandize that is worthy of beloved city. 

Representatives and students of the universities of Saint-Petersburg, the heads of partner-companies, designers as well as representatives of the city administration took part in the ceremony of finalists’ announcement.

Up to 800 students from 16 universities of the city participated in the contest. The contest passes in 10 nominations and four special projects according to tasks of the customers — representatives of such organizations as «Russia» bank, BIOCAD, «GazpromNeft», Faberge museum, «Benua 1890» and others. The Saint-Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design together with Innovations and Youth Initiatives Support Fund of Saint-Petersburg with the support of president’s grants took on the role of organizers.
