The record of negative temperatures has been broken in St. Petersburg

07 December 2021

The daily record for the minimum air temperature was set on the night of December 6.

The Leading Specialist of the Phobos center Mikhail Leus announced the record on his Facebook page on Monday.

The frosts in the northern capital dropped to minus 20.9 degrees, which is 0.4 degrees lower than the previous record set on that day in 1893.

“In the 21st century, cold records in St. Petersburg were renewed only twice! The last time it was more than 6 years ago - on July 14, 2015, and before that - on January 3, 2002”, said Leus.
