The territory near the Russian National Library on Moskovsky Prospekt will be transformed

13 April 2021

Recreation areas in the style of reading rooms will be built on the adjacent square.

The project to renovate the square near the library was chosen as part of a rating vote of residents in 2020. It was developed jointly by the administration of the Moscow district and the Committee for the Improvement of St. Petersburg. The purpose of landscaping is to create a modern space. A comprehensive approach to the renovation of the square also includes the renovation of the fountain. The green spaces in the park will not only be preserved, but also supplemented with new plantings.

Small recreation areas with benches along Basseynaya Street will be decorated in the style of library reading rooms on various topics: scientific, classical, modern and children's literature. The project provides for unhindered access to the territory for people with limited mobility.
