The exhibition "Silver Necklace of Russia" has opened in the Peter and Paul's Fortress

A large-scale street exposition "The Silver Necklace of Russia" has opened at the Nikolsky Gate of the Peter and Paul's Fortress.

There is a series of installations in the form of 11 silver Beads that make up a necklace and symbolize each of the 11 constituent entities of the Russian Federation: St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Leningrad, Kaliningrad, Murmansk, Novgorod, Pskov regions, the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Republic of Karelia and Komi. Beads measuring 1.8 meters were placed in accordance with the geographic location of the regions of the Northwest.

“Everyone knows the “Golden Ring” of Russia, it has become a real tourist brand. The North-West of Russia possesses no less wealth of historical, cultural and natural monuments. "The Silver Necklace of Russia" has every chance of becoming an equally recognizable and popular route. The unique combination of the harsh northern nature and cultural and historical monuments, traditional crafts and creative experiments of contemporary artists can surprise the most sophisticated traveler, "said Governor Alexander Beglov. In his opinion, the opened installation clearly conveys the idea of ​​unity in diversity, presenting the individuality of each region as a whole.

“The Northwestern Federal District is 10% of the entire territory of Russia, 10 UNESCO sites, international seaports, borders with 7 states. But it is also fantastic nature, rich history, objects of wooden architecture, the developed Arctic, Peter the Great's cities and the roads of the Great Victory. All this attracts a large number of travelers to the northwest of Russia, regardless of the season. The opening of the exhibition, where each of the constituent entities of the district is unusually and creatively represented by a separate Bead - an occasion to draw attention to regional peculiarities, to interest Russian citizens and guests of our country and to motivate them for new trips and travels in the north-west of the country, when the epidemic situation allows ", - said the plenipotentiary of the President of Russia in the Northwestern Federal District Alexander Gutsan.

The Bead symbolizing St. Petersburg became the heart of the exhibition. It is made in the form of a large mirror ball, which reflects the city and all other Beads representing the region of North-West Russia. Outstanding artists, actors, directors, famous people of the art sphere and scientists, astronauts were invited to participate in the project. Each of them created their own thematic design associated with the selected region.

The goal of "the Silver Necklace of Russia" project is to develop domestic tourism by unlocking the tourism potential of historical cities in the North-West of Russia, drawing attention to new routes and travel opportunities. The exhibition will run until September 16, 2021.

The exhibition was organized by the Central Exhibition Hall "Manezh" with the support of the Committee for Tourism Development and the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg, the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-West Federal District, the Federal Agency for Tourism and the Fund for Support of Innovations and Youth Initiatives of St. Petersburg.
