The first memorial museum in Russia dedicated to a distinguished person – Generalissimo Suvorov – the great Russian commander who never lost a battle.

The museum was built in 1901-1904 due to the Imperial order of Emperor Nicholas II and at the expenses of military and civil societies. It is located in the centre of Saint Petersburg near the Tauride Garden. The museum was built in the style of ancient Russian fortresses. The central tower is crowned with a two-headed eagle. Under thecentral tower Suvovrov’s coat of arms can be seen. The main facade is decorated with two big mosaic paintings, depicting well-known episodes of A.Suvorov’s life: “The Suvorov crossing the Alps” and “Departure of Suvorov to the 1799 campaign”.

There are three large collections in the basis of the museum fund, among the exhibits you can find, for example, weapons and the rewards of the commander, personal belongings, different documents and more. Visitors can also see a famous collection of relics, related to the General's Swiss campaign.

There are several halls in the museum dedicated to different aspects of life and activity of A.Suvorov. For example, in one of the halls visitors can get acquainted with the martial art of A.Suvorov. In the Main Hall they can see the stained-glass window, which depicts A.Suvorov in the style of the ceremonial portraits of the 18th century.
