Apartment House of A. F. Bubyr
Stremyannaya ul., 11
The house is an architectural monument of regional significance in the Northern Art Nouveau style
The apartment house on Stremyannaya Street was built in 1907 according to the project of architects Alexey Bubyr and Nikolai Vasiliev. The land on which it was built belonged to the Ugryumov family, but when the construction was completed, Bubyr bought the house from the former owners. His family moved into an apartment on the sixth floor, where the architect made a workshop for himself. In 1917, the second creator of the house, Nikolai Vasiliev, moved here, but after the revolution he went abroad.
The house has six floors, it consists of three buildings. The facade is decorated in the traditions of Northern Art Nouveau with windows of different shapes and bas-reliefs with images of animals, plants and stars. The lower part of the building is finished with red granite, the second floor – with gray stone; plaster, tiles and bricks are also used on the facade. The building provided all utility systems necessary for a comfortable life: elevator, electricity, water supply, bathrooms and toilets in each apartment. Today, the apartment house of Alexey Bubyr is included in the register of objects of cultural heritage of Russia.
