Ida Amalia Lidval's apartment house, considered an example of the Northern Art Nouveau style, is the first independent work of her son, an outstanding architect Fyodor Lidval, which made him famous

The construction of the house lasted from 1899 to 1904 and was carried out in four stages, starting with the construction of Malaya Posadskaya Street. Each one was built within two years.

The buildings of the Lidval house formed the territory of the courtyard courdoner (fr. “cour d’honneur” - the court of honor). Marble fireplaces, earthenware washbasins, Dutch and majolica stoves were installed in the buildings. The rooms were decorated with wood, stucco, painting, mosaic tiles. Stained glass windows and fireplaces were installed in the front rooms.

In each building there were reception rooms, restrooms, servants' rooms, part of the premises was allocated for equipment for heating and lighting, laundry and ironing rooms and elevators.

In 1907, the building was awarded at the first city competition of the "best facades", which was an important stage in the development of St. Petersburg architecture and glorified the architect.

In 1909, the artist Kuzma Sergeevich Petrov-Vodkin lived in this house. In Soviet times, the premises in the Lidval house were occupied by a labor school and a music department.
