An architectural monument built in the early 20th century for the Duke of Leuchtenberg. For the first time, the building, decorated with mosaic panels, depicted various landscapes: industrial, rural, marine, and others.
Tenement house of Nicolas Nikolaevitch, Duke of Leuchtenberg is an architectural landmark built in early XX century. The building is designed in the Art Nouveau style and was built by Russian-American architect Fyodor von Postels. By the way, this house is the architect’s first major work.

The history of the house begins with its owner, a retired general, His Serene Highness Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich of Leuchtenberg. He decided to build a comfortable residential complex for renting out apartments.

The dominant feature of the main façade is a huge mosaic frieze, consisting of five large mosaic panels, created in 1905 based on sketches by the artist S. T. Shelkovy in the workshop of V. A. Frolov. According to the artist's design, the mosaic is located between the large windows of the fifth floor and actually covers the entire wall of the building. Arch shaped windows and robust tracery balconies look especially proper on this building.

Nowadays a lot of tours go past this tenement house, so everyone can enjoy the Russian architecture.
