Considered one of the examples of late St. Petersburg eclecticism, the Apartment House of A.Y. Keibel won the love of tourists and locals, thanks to itsbay window tower, which seemed to be transported to the center of St. Petersburg from the pages of the brothers' Grimm fairy tale

The apartment house of Keibel is located at the intersection of Bolshaya Zelenina and Barochnaya streets. This building, completed in 1901, was erected according to the project of Gustav von Goly, combined many elements of different architectural styles. About 40 houses were built in St. Petersburg and Tsarskoye Selo to von Goly’s designs.

The house with the Rapunzel Tower was built by the order of Albert Yulievich Keibel, a famous hereditary St. Petersburg jeweler, an honorary citizen and merchant of the first guild, then still in the outskirts of the city, not far from his family factory that produced military and civic orders.

Albert Keibel was an outstanding jeweler, with him the firm of his ancestors became one of the largest jewelry companies of the Russian Empire. Now the apartment house of Keibel, being an ordinary residential apartment building, is included in the list of urban objects of historical and cultural value. The Rapunzel tower is inhabited by ordinary Petersburgers.
