The State Sports Museum is located in the very heart of the city - on the Moika River Embankment, 23, in an old building with a rich history. Petersburgers know it as the former mansion of Prince Abamelek-Lazarev.
The museum's exhibition space is located in two halls: the permanent exhibition hall is called "History of Russian Sports". It reflects the main stages of our sports history. The permanent exhibition of the museum includes more than 500 artifacts, among which a special place is occupied by awards and prizes created by outstanding Leningrad artists, award cups of the main all-Union competitions, memorial items of athletes - Petersburgers, as well as medals and badges, equipment and inventory, archival posters, certificates, documents and photographs.
The second - the Theater - hall is intended for temporary exhibitions and events - meetings with athletes, lectures, tournaments and ceremonial events of the sports world.
