The heart of the exhibition is the scientist's authentic office. The museum houses D. I. Mendeleyev's library, collected by him throughout his life. The museum-archive collection includes D. I. Mendeleyev's personal belongings, memorial furniture from the scientist's apartment, portraits of D. I. Mendeleyev by I. N. Kramskoy, N. A. Yaroshenko, A. I. Mendeleyeva, portraits of the Mendeleyev family and friends, as well as unique archival documents - manuscripts, personal correspondence, drafts of scientific papers.

Participants in the quest in a playful way get acquainted with the biography of Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleyev, his scientific achievements in various fields of science and technology, learn about the scientist's friends and scientific opponents. The quest tasks will help to get a more complete picture of the scientific problems that worried the great Russian scientist in the second half of the XIX - early XX centuries. By completing the tasks, high school students will have the opportunity to travel back in time and feel the scientific atmosphere in which D. I. Mendeleyev lived and worked.
Walking tour "St. Petersburg in the second half of the XX century in the life of D. I. Mendeleyev"
Audience: adults, family groups
The tour introduces the sights of the central part of St. Petersburg, which are inextricably linked with the biography and scientific work of the great Russian scientist D. I. Mendeleyev. During the tour, you will learn how the famous clock in the General Staff Arch appeared, what connected D. I. Mendeleyev with the Admiralty, why Mendeleyev did not become a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, you will hear a story about the history of the creation of St. Petersburg University, and you will also see St. Petersburg as Mendeleyev himself could have seen it in the second half of the XIX century. The tour will end with a visit to D. I. Mendeleyev's apartment in the Twelve Collegia building, where the scientist lived for 24 years and made many remarkable discoveries, in particular, it was here that the periodic table of elements was created. The university apartment carefully preserves the office of the famous chemist, which gives you the opportunity to feel the atmosphere in which D. I. Mendeleyev lived and worked.
