Museum of Soviet Radio Engineering in Kronstadt

The exposition of the Museum of the History of Radio Engineering of the USSR allows you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Soviet period, see domestic radio engineering created in Leningrad and Moscow, the Ukrainian and Byelorussian SSR, in the Soviet Baltics.

Working hours: on weekends from 14.00 to 19.00. Entrance from Petrovskaya Street under the arch into the courtyard (see signs). Currently, the museum's collection contains more than a thousand storage units. Among them are exclusive items: the first post-war receiver produced by the Riga VEF plant, the first mass televisions "KVN-49" and "Leningrad T-2", the "monumental" receiver "MIR", a unique automated vacuum tube "Festival" with remote control and many other unique exhibits, through which you can trace the history of the development of technology in our country.

The director of the Museum of Radio Engineering Ilya Shkurko emphasizes its special role: "the museum was created not only for nostalgia, but also so that the younger generation knows that Russia is the birthplace of radio, television, the satellite and the lunar rover." Indeed, mass production of radio equipment "for the home" began after the Great Patriotic War. The exposition will feature one of the "oldest" exhibits - the VEF Super M-557 vacuum tube receiver, produced by the VEF plant since 1945. The unit is made in a rounded wooden case and is equipped with a large round tuning scale with backlighting, on which the wavelengths, frequencies and city names are applied. An optical indicator, the "magic eye", allows for precise tuning to the desired station. Only 167,665 of these receivers were produced. The best electronics of the Soviet Union are represented by the Korvet, Brig, Karavella brands produced by the Kirov Ladoga plant. These are unique vertical record players-electrophones Karavella-203 and Korvet-248, Korvet-003 and Korvet-038 record players with a "nano-technological" dynamic damping system. They are capable of playing records even in sea conditions! And Korvet acoustic systems were rightfully considered the best in the Union.
