ITMO University Museum of Optics
Birzhevaya liniya, 14
The main exposition of the museum is dedicated to the history of optics, its development and achievements. Optics as a science originated in Ancient Egypt and has since become an integral part of our lives. It is studied not only as part of physics, but also in related disciplines.
In the halls of the Museum of Optics, visitors will see holograms, learn how they are created, where holography is already used and how it can change our lives. They will get acquainted with the history of lighting devices: how a person went from a burning stick to an energy-saving light bulb and a laser. Among the exhibits, you can find a bronze Chinese mirror that holds a little secret.
Some of the museum exhibits are interactive. Visitors will be able to watch the first cartoons, see an old stereoscope, and control lightning in balls. In the hall of mirrors, visitors will get acquainted with the inventions of the great scientist Leonardo da Vinci.
