This mansion was designed by architect Carl Schmidt in XIX century specifically for Tiss brothers.

Karl Wilhelm Tiss, an owner of this mansion was a co-owner of wool factory «Bush, Tiss and Co» on Leuchtenberg street (today it is known as Ul. Rozenshteyna). His first companion was Louis Bush, and then years later his own son Wilhelm Tiss also became his companion. In 1913 architect Vladimir Barri attached a new wing to the building.

The mansion is built in stylized forms of medieval architecture, a brick Art Nouveau style. The facade cladding, made of light yellow ceramic tiles with red tile inserts, is a creative interpretation of the «brick style» techniques.

At this time Tiss mansion is acknowledged as an object of cultural heritage. There are many things to see apart from facade: floor with mosaic, forged stair railings, and beautiful tiled chimney. These days Federal Highway Administration is located inside this mansion.
