Monument-Bust of Vladimir Vladimirovich Mayakovsky.

The monument, created by sculptor Boris Alekseevich Plenkin, designed by architect Vladimir Pavlovich Litvyakov, was unveiled in 1976 in a square at the Mayakovsky and Nekrasov Streets intersection. The selection of this location, where the residents of the city typically arrange romantic and friendly meetings, was not a random choice. In essence, this entire district is dedicated to honoring the memory of the renowned poet. In addition to the nearby Mayakovskaya Metro Station, one can also find the library named after the poet, and Nadezhninskaya Street, where he resided for a period, has been renamed as Mayakovsky Street.

The futuristic ideologies and straightforward, occasionally rugged lyrical expressions of the poet still resonate with his admirers today. In 1997, a movement known as "Listen!" emerged among young poets in St. Petersburg, led by Vladimir Antipenko. Members of this group organized poetic gatherings near the Mayakovsky monument on Saturdays, presenting their literary creations to an appreciative audience.

The monument bust, crafted from pink granite and characterized by its well-defined features and robust structure, excellently conveys the daring and rebellious nature of V.V. Mayakovsky. His image is not only cherished and widely recognized but also easily identifiable.
