Museum of Florentine Mosaics
Zhdanovskaya ul., 45
The collection of the Museum of Florentine Mosaics, the only one in Russia, contains more than 500 objects.
All works are made of natural stones using a hand-made technique invented by Florentine masters in the 16th century. The museum collection is a reflection of the outstanding traditions of European art, rethought and embodied by Russian masters of the Far East, the Urals, Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The museum halls display mosaic panels (paintings), furniture with mosaic inserts, decorative and applied art objects (jewelry, boxes, watches, vases). A journey through the museum halls is a kind of "historical detective story" immersing you in the mysteries of art from the secrets of the "Little Dutchmen" to the mystery of the search for the legendary Amber Room.
