The A.I. Kuindzhi Museum-Apartment
Birzhevoi per., 1/10
Arkhip Ivanovich Kuindzhi spent the last 13 years of his life in this house
The artist's studio currently houses an exhibition dedicated to his teaching activities at the Academy of Arts, where he was a professor of landscape painting and head of the studio from 1894 to 1897, and managed to educate a whole galaxy of original artists.
The apartment on Birzhevoy Lane attracted Kuindzhi's attention with its huge attic studio, which offered a majestic view of the city, the Spit of Vasilievsky Island and the Petrograd Side. The studio turned out to be very convenient for work.
After the death of the master, his student N.N. Roerich expressed the idea of creating a museum in the historical studio. This was accomplished by the 150th anniversary of A.I. Kuindzhi's birth in memory of his services to Russian culture.
