The A.A. Blok Apartment Museum is located at 57 Dekabristov Street and is a branch of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg. Its opening, timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the poet's death, took place in 1980.
The museum is located in the former apartment building of M.E. Petrovsky, built by the architect M.F. Peterson, where the poet settled in 1912 and lived the last 9 years of his life. The core of the exhibition is a collection of A.A. Blok's personal belongings, preserved by L.D. Mendeleyeva, the poet's wife, and transferred to the Institute of Russian Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Pushkin House) after her death in 1939, where they were partially exhibited; as well as the collection of N.P. Ilyin, which includes about 7,000 items.
In the memorial apartment No. 21, located on the 4th floor, the poet’s study, dining room, bedroom and living room of his wife have been restored. On the 2nd floor, in apartment No. 23, where A.A. Blok’s mother lived, there is a literary exhibition covering the poet’s creative path. In the room where A.A. Blok died on August 7, 1921, the poet’s death mask and L.A. Bruni’s drawing “Blok on his deathbed” are on display. The museum’s collections include the library of V.G. Orlov, works by L.S. Bakst, N.S. Goncharova, M.A. Voloshin, B.M. Kustodiev, and an annual Blok scientific conference is held.
