Malaya Meshchanskaya Street (now Kaznacheyskaya), Building 7, Apartment 36 (2nd floor) – this is the address where Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky lived from August 20, 1864 to January 1867

On this street, Fyodor Mikhailovich lived in three houses. So this one is the most remarkable, and not because it is the one with the memorial plaque. There are many reasons: writing the novels Crime and Punishment and The Gambler, Notes from the Underground, meeting Anna Grigoryevna Snitkina.

Anna Grigoryevna helped Dostoevsky with writing The Gambler — she was a stenographer. Together they prepared the novel in just twenty-six days. Here he declared his love to her.
