Monument "Cat Tishina Matroskina"
Marata ul., 34
The cat in the striped shirt — Tishina Matroskina, is presented to the audience as a symbol of all stray cats. She is installed on the cornice of the house where the Mitki Museum and Workshop is located.
She walks wherever she wants! Now she strolls along the cornice, not paying the slightest attention to the flow of people hurrying along the sidewalk, or to the line of cars rushing along the highway. The cat Tishina Matroskina is actively involved in public activities, in particular, she is the founder of the World Day of St. Petersburg Cats (June 8).
During the global financial crisis of 2008, the Mitki "decorated" a banknote worth one million tishki with a portrait of the cat Tishka. The funds were intended for the development of such industries as cat breeding and mouse trapping. The current place of residence of Tishina Matroskina is associated with the relocation of the Mitki headquarters. Initially, the cat lived on Pravda Street and served as a talisman for artists. Later, the Mitki Museum was moved to a new location, and Matroskin's Tishina moved with it.
