New building of the Russian National Library

The modern building, designed by V.N. Shcherbin, took 12 years to build and was completed in 1998.
The library halls can accommodate 2,000 people at a time, and the collections are designed for 20 million storage units. Behind the white portal facing Moskovsky Prospekt, there is an atmospheric space in front of the facade, decorated with sculptures symbolizing science and art.
