Museum of the History of the Admiralty Shipyards
Fontanka River Emb., 203
"Admiralty Shipyards" is one of the oldest shipbuilding enterprises in Russia, the first industrial enterprise in St. Petersburg. The Admiralty Shipyards Museum has existed in St. Petersburg for almost a decade now. This interesting industrial museum dedicated to the history of the famous enterprise is almost the same age as our city.
The museum is located in a separate two-story building on the territory of the plant. The exposition is presented in two halls: on the first floor there are sections covering the initial period of the enterprise's history: from the moment Peter the Great laid the foundation of the Admiralty House to the unification of the Admiralty Shipyard in 1914.
The interior design of the equipment and decorative elements imitates the details of the hulls and rigging of the wooden and armored fleet. The exposition located on the second floor of the museum is dedicated to the development of the enterprise in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries; the design of this hall is more technological. The conference room imitates the captain's cabin. A special feature of the museum is the large number of exhibits in a relatively small space (more than 3,000 storage units!).
The museum archive contains many documents and photographs and a unique collection of samples of the plant's products (models of ships, submarines, structures, etc.). The size of the ship and submarine models varies from small to quite large, almost two meters in length. Taking these features into account, original stand and display structures were developed. The museum's unique appearance is created with the help of decorative maps of sea coasts, made on stands made of acrylic glass and having end lighting.
