Functioning church in neo-Russian style on the embankment of Obvodny Canal (Nabereznaya Obvodnogo Kanala)

The construction of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ began in 1904 and was completed in 1914. The works were mainly sponsored by the Alexander Nevsky Sobriety Society. That is why the purpose of the temple's activities from the very beginning was not only religious, but also moral enlightenment.

In 1930, the Resurrection Church was closed. In the Soviet period, the church building was used as a warehouse for tram services, a cinema, and even a parachute platform was located on the bell tower for some time.

The building was returned to the church in 1989 and service is held here. Since then, the building had undergone reconstruction, the main part of which was completed in 2008. In 2013, a monument to Emperor Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra was erected in the courtyard of the temple to honour the 400th anniversary of the House of Romanov.

The Resurrection Church is located in a picturesque place, on the bank of the Obvodny Canal. It is built in the neo-Russian style typical of the first decade of the 20th century. Its characteristic feature is a 60-meter-high tent bell tower, richly decorated with molding.
