Legend claims that in the XIII century a wooden chapel or church was built at the mouth of the Izhora river, on the site of the Neva Battle. By the order of Peter I, a new Alexander Nevsky Church was laid in Ust’-Izhora in 1711 on the site of the old building. This wooden church was created at the expense of A.D. Menshikov, who was granted Izhora lands and the title of Prince of Izhora by PeterI in 1707 for the victory over the Swedes at Kalisz in in 1706

The church, built in 1711, was destroyed in a fire. The existing stone church with a bell tower was built in 1798-1799 at the expense of residents of Ust’-Izhora and the state-owned brick factories. The last reconstruction of the church was carried out in 1871-1875. Its main goal was to expand the area of the church in response to the growth of the Ust’-Izhora population. The church was rebuilt on voluntary donations, its project was developed by the famous master of church architecture M.A. Shchurupov. In 1990, on the 750th anniversary of the Nevskaya Battle, thechurchof the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky was transferred to the Russian OrthodoxChurch. The interior decoration of the church is made in accordance with the traditions of Russian architecture of the XVIII century. Among the most famous elements are gilded iconostases and paintings on the ceiling of the main chapel. Currently, services are held in the temple.
